To release a film on a national holiday became a trend and now film makers lock these national holidays in advance. Like 2020 Independence day is already locked by Abhishek Dudhaiya ‘Bhuj: The Pride of India’ starring Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha, Parineeti Chopra, Rana Daggubati & Ammy Virk. Like Independence Day there are few more dates which are important for film makers like 2nd October, Republic Day, X-Mas Day and Eid is of course reserved for BhaiJaan LOL.
But to release patriot film on Independence Day makes the profit double as countrymen are already in the feel of Tri-Color. Patriotism remains on peak on national holidays so this genre doubles everything.
Below is the list of all the independence day releases of last decade.
Mission Mangal and Batla House: Like last year both these Desi Boys are fighting on the box office for this year as well. Akshay Kumar’s ‘Mission Mangal’ is all set to launch its Kushal Mangalyaan tomorrow. Experts predicted that the film business approximate 20-24 cr. on its first day i.e. 15th Aug. On the other hand John’s ‘Batla House’ is also on the fire and ready to collect approximate 15-18 cr. tomorrow or on its first day. But still the final figures will tell who did it better.
Gold and Satyameva Jayate: Last year both these patriotic Heroes fought well and both did awesome job for their producers. Gold did a total business of 150+ cr. Another side John Abraham’s Satyameva Jayate also crossed 100 cr. So last independence day was equally good to these guys.

Where Hrithik’s Mohenjo Daro couldn’t cover its expense while Akshay Kumar’s Rustom won Indians heart. Rustom did a great job on box-office and earned 300+ cr. on the box office. Above all Akshay Kumar won 64th National Award of best actor for his performance.

Ek Tha Tiger: Yash Raj Films came with Salman Khan for the very first time with Ek Tha Tiger and the film is the biggest 15th Aug release so far. As Salman’s Ek Tha Tiger won 320+ cr. on the box office also the film comes under the list of top ten highest grossing films of Salman Khan.
Aarakshan: Prakahs Jha’s directorial Aarakshan was a multi starrer film having big faces like Amitabh Bchchan, Manoj Bajpeyi, Saif Ali Kha and Deepika Padukone. the film was based on the caste reservation point in India and it was just an average film with 54 cr. business by investing 40 cr.
Peepli live: Aamir Khan’s productions Peepli Live got released on Independence Weekend of 2010. It was a satirical comedy film based on social issue with a comic angle.
